Farmers Market Finds: Grilled Garlic Scapes
As I mentioned above, the flavor of garlic scapes is kind of like a cross between chives and green onions. They’re more delicate, but still bring that garlic-y infusion of flavor to anything you use them with. Grill them, saute them, blend them–but use them before they disappear and you find yourself pining away for these garlic scapes to come back again next Spring!

Instructions
  1. Wash and dry the scapes. Cut off the woody ends of each stalk, similarly to how you might snap off the ends of an asparagus stalk.
  2. Place them on a large piece of foil. Drizzle with olive oil, and then toss with salt & pepper.
  3. Heat grill to medium high heat. Place foil with scapes directly onto grill grates. Grill for approximately 10 minutes, or until the scapes are slightly wilted but still have a little snap to each stalk.
  4. Serve immediately as a side, or chop and toss with your favorite pasta or salad dish.
